Roles and Responsibilities
Here at ICF Toronto we are committed to building a more equitable chapter and coaching profession to create a more just society.
Board Member Commitment:
- Two-year term, with the possibility of renewal
- Board of Directors are voted in by the membership at the Annual Member Meeting for a two year term
- Willingness to contribute an average of 20+ hours per month to a working Board
- Willingness to lead a volunteer committee and/or ad hoc advisory group
- Support awareness of ICF Global Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan initiatives
- Complete ICF Volunteer Leader Training within 3 months of appointment as Board member
- Sign Chapter Leader Agreement
- Attend ICF Global Leadership Forum
- Attend monthly board meetings and chapter events
Each Board of Director role works across the organization in order to ensure the board is highly effective in carrying out its essential duties and governance responsibilities and is able to attract and develop the highest caliber candidates to serve as trustees.

President
The President is responsible for fostering a thriving, sustainable, diverse, equitable and inclusive Chapter. To lead and guide the transformational and innovation journey of ICF Toronto Chapter to ensure attainment of medium and long term strategic objectives and sustainable change in collaboration with other Chapter Leaders, and ICF Global. Responsible for the oversight of ICF Toronto to ensure the activities of the board and members are in alignment with the vision and mission of the organization. The President serves several key stakeholders: Chapter members, BOD, partners and ICF PC-Global
Secretary and Co – Director, Transformation & Governance
The Board Secretary and Co-Director Transformation & Governance leads and guides the transformational and innovation journey of ICF Toronto Chapter to ensure attainment of medium and long term strategic objectives and sustainable change in collaboration with other Chapter Leaders, and ICF Global.
This position is responsible for board governance stewardship, including organizational reporting to support chapter operations, board meeting preparation, nominations and recruitment, onboarding, board President support, board communication and the annual meeting of the membership. The Co-Directors also lead the technology function for the association, ensuring that the technology platform continues to match the needs of the membership and the delivery of enhanced value.
Treasurer and Co – Director, Transformation & Governance
The Treasurer and Co-Director, Transformation & Governance leads and guides the transformational and innovation journey of ICF Toronto Chapter to ensure attainment of medium- and long-term strategic objectives and sustainable change in collaboration with other Chapter Leaders, and ICF Global.
This position is responsible for governance and financial stewardship, including financial reporting and oversight, board meeting preparation, trustee nominations and recruitment, onboarding, board chair support, board communication and the annual meeting of the membership. These Co-Directors also lead the technology function for the association, ensuring that the technology platform continues to match the needs of the membership and the delivery of enhanced value.
Vice-President
The Vice President fully supports the President in all aspects of leading a thriving, sustainable, diverse, equitable and inclusive Chapter. To lead and guide the transformational and innovation journey of ICF Toronto Chapter to ensure attainment of medium and long term strategic objectives and sustainable change in collaboration with other Chapter Leaders, and ICF Global. The Vice President assumes these responsibilities in addition to their respective portfolio duties.
Co-Directors Membership & Volunteering
The Co-Directors Membership & Volunteering strive to create a thriving, sustainable ICF Toronto chapter building a diverse and inclusive community that represents the communities that we serve. The Co-Director of Membership & Volunteering is responsible for providing direction and leadership for the Chapter’s membership and volunteering programs to maintain and increase ICF membership and engagement, that support the ICF core values of Professional Integrity, Collaboration, Humanity, Equity and support the goals of advancing the coaching profession, and the skilling and credentialing of our members.
Co-Directors Marketing & Communications
The Co-Directors of Marketing and Communications are responsible for driving the Chapter’s marketing and communications efforts. This co-lead position is pivotal in shaping the Chapter’s image and community engagement. As a working Board of Directors member, this role collaborates across portfolios to develop and execute marketing strategies, enhance the association’s brand, and facilitate effective communication with members, stakeholders, and the wider coaching community. The Director of Marketing and Communications significantly influences community loyalty and engagement by fostering a sense of belonging and dedication among members and stakeholders. This, in turn, strengthens community loyalty.
Co-Directors Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
To create a thriving, sustainable ICF Toronto chapter requires a diverse and inclusive community that represents the communities that we serve. Dedicated Co-Directors of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion increase focus and forward our commitments to the outcome of Equity. The Co-Directors of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion works to support the development, promotion and integration of a culture of Equity for the Chapter through practices that enhance the experience of the members, champion access to professional coaching and positively influence the coaching profession.
Co-Directors Learning & Development
The Co-Directors of Learning and Development are responsible for providing professional development and networking opportunities to our diverse members, that support the ICF core values of Professional Integrity, Collaboration, Humanity, Equity and support the goals of advancing the coaching profession, and the skilling and credentialing of our members.
Co-Directors Community & Corporate Outreach
The Co-Directors of Community & Corporate Outreach manage development and advancement of strategic partnerships between ICF Toronto and not-for-profit, private and public sector organizations and associations to advance credentialed coaching and benefit ICF Toronto members through business development & professional growth.
