Board Member Commitment:

  • Two-year term, with the possibility of renewal
  • Willingness to contribute an average of 20+ hours per month to a working Board
  • Willingness to lead a committee and/or ad hoc advisory group
  • Opportunity to apply for other roles on the Board, including President
  • Support awareness of ICF Global Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan initiatives
  • Complete ICF Volunteer Leader Training within 3 months of appointment as Board member
  • Attend ICF Global Leadership Forum
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and chapter events

Position Description:

To create a thriving, sustainable ICF Toronto chapter requires a diverse and inclusive community that represents the communities that we serve. A dedicated Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will increase focus and forward our commitments to the outcome of Equity. The Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion works with a co-lead to support the development, promotion and integration of a culture of Equity for the Chapter through practices that enhance the experience of the members, champion access to professional coaching and positively influence the coaching profession.

Functional Responsibilities:

Working together with the Co-Lead of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion:

  • Serve as a member of the Chapter’s working governance Board, with shared responsibility for the overall governance and operations of the organization.
  • Participate in annual Board planning, budgeting and evaluation processes
  • Develop, implement and benchmark EDI portfolio goals
  • Identify EDI policies, procedures and systems to address gaps and ensure alignment with EDI best practices and chapter goals
  • Work collaboratively across chapter Board portfolios providing strategic guidance to the development, implementation and benchmarking of EDI goals embedded within chapter functional areas
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Toronto chapter and other ICF colleagues on EDI-related issues and strategies as required
  • Co-chair the EDI committee and appoint additional members, as needed
  • Leadership to EDI data collection to inform Board governance and operations decision making
  • Lead, as relevant, EDI training and education for the Board and members, including Global ICF’s Cultural Competency workshop
  • Collaborate with Global DEIB and chapter leads as relevant to support both overall ICF and Toronto chapter EDI goals and priorities

We are looking for a volunteer with the following experience/competencies:

  • An ICF Toronto Chapter member in good standing
  • Experience developing and implementing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategies, programs and policies
  • Experience as a volunteer, ideally including leading volunteer groups or committees
  • Non-profit Board governance knowledge and experience preferred
  • Partnership or community development experience
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills
  • Comfort and experience giving and receiving feedback and conflict resolution approaches
  • ICF Certified Coach is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with MS Office an asset
  • Basic survey research skills an asset
