Board Member Commitment:

  • Two-year term, with the possibility of renewal
  • Willingness to contribute an average of 20+ hours per month to a working Board
  • Willingness to lead a committee
  • Opportunity to apply for other roles on the Board, including President
  • Support awareness of ICF Global Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan initiatives
  • Complete ICF Volunteer Leader Training within 3 months of appointment as Board member
  • Attend ICF Global Leadership Forum
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and chapter events

Position Description:

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a co-leadership role within ICF Toronto Board of Directors, responsible for driving the Chapter’s marketing and communications efforts. This co-lead position is pivotal in shaping the Chapter’s image and community engagement. As a working Board of Directors member, this role collaborates across portfolios to develop and execute marketing strategies, enhance the association’s brand, and facilitate effective communication with members, stakeholders, and the wider coaching community. The Director of Marketing and Communications significantly influences community loyalty and engagement by fostering a sense of belonging and dedication among members and stakeholders. This, in turn, strengthens community loyalty.

Functional Responsibilities:

Working together with the co-director of Marketing and Communications:

  • Leads and executes the marketing and communications objectives of ICF Toronto, in collaboration with other Board members
  • Co-leads the Marketing and Communications committee
  • Maintains and executes the marketing and communications plan including strategies and guidelines around communications, advertising, media and public relations, brand, digital and budget
  • Provides branding and editing support on external communications such as newsletter, ad hoc notices, campaigns, publications and articles, both online and in print
  • Leads the marketing and communications strategy of campaigns and events such as the annual conference, PRISM awards, international coaching week and other key initiatives
  • Leads content strategy, audience engagement and posting for the website and social media

We are looking for a volunteer with the following experience/competencies:

  • An ICF Toronto Chapter member in good standing
  • A passion for Marketing and Communications
  • Lived volunteering experience
  • Team leadership
  • Understanding of marketing and communications in non-profit organizations
  • Experience in community outreach and member engagement
  • Strategic mindset and experience in developing and implementing strategy
  • Strong communication skills and collaboration skills
  • ICF Certified Coach is considered an asset
  • Experience with anti-racism and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is considered an asset
