What is Reciprocal Peer Coaching?

Reciprocal (peer) coaching is a process where professional coaches partner, alternating roles as coach and coachee in a collaborative, confidential environment. It involves coaches working together as equals, supporting each other’s development.

Why it Matters?

Reciprocal Peer Coaching offers a space for mutual learning, where coaches both give and receive coaching, strengthen their skills, and build meaningful connections. Along the way, participants earn credentialing credit, deepen self-awareness, and grow personally and professionally within a trusted community.

Program Overview

The program is designed for optimal peer learning, flexible and impactful for all credentialed ICF coaches.

It supports coaches on their journey toward ICF credentialing while fostering meaningful peer engagement, skill development, and community building.

Reciprocal Peer coaching counts towards the paid hours’ requirement for ICF credentials (100 hours for ACC, 500 hours for PCC, and 2500 hours for MCC), provided that each participating coach conducts an equal number of sessions with their peers.

Program Cohorts

The program is offered three times a year in cohort format

  • Cohort 1: January – March l Registration opens and is announced in November
  • Cohort 2: April – June l Registration opens and is announced in February
  • Cohort 3: September – November l Registration opens and is announced in July

Program Highlights

The program follows a cohort-based structure that supports self-managed partnerships for continued learning, with flexibility for coaches to design frequency and format throughout the cohort duration.

Intake & Matching

Before each cohort begins, coaches are matched by the chapter based on a brief intake form. Participants are informed of their match during the kickoff session.

Kickoff Session

Each cohort starts with a structured Kickoff – Reciprocal Peer Coaching Introduction Session.

  • A walkthrough of program expectations , workbook and structure description.
  • Time to get paired, design the engagement and exchange contacts for ongoing self-managed sessions using checklists provided in the workbook.
  • Facilitators available throughout to provide guidance and answer questions.

Self-Managed Peer Coaching Sessions

  • Participants manage their own coaching schedule and are encouraged to use the provided workbook to design the alliances and log session dates, times, competencies practiced, and personal reflections.
  • Coaches may choose to record sessions (with mutual consent)

Midpoint Check-In Call

The chapter will organize and invite participants to a Midpoint Check-In Call, conducted halfway through the cohort.

Final Reflection & Evaluation

At the end of the cohort, participants will be invited to complete a survey and reflect on their coaching hours, the competencies they practiced, the goals they achieved, and their overall experience in the program.
