RACISM 101: All that we want to know that we never learnt
With Keith Jeffers
Recent global events have brought the subject of racism into the forefront of our reality and can no longer be ignored and treated as a taboo topic. ICF Toronto chapter in its commitment to make a difference in the lives of individuals, organizations and communities, realizes that change is needed to address inequality and systemic discrimination.
We have invited Keith Jeffers to heighten our awareness and increase Racial Literacy to diffuse our fears of confronting the issue and to facilitate our learning and gain insights in our coaching profession.
Specific areas that will be focused on are:
- the conceptual frameworks for understanding the multifaceted and intersectional dimensions of race and racism;
- gaining a clear and common understanding of the various vocabulary and terminologies used in the discussion on racism that coaches need to familiarise themselves with;
- illustrations of real-life experiences and examples for us to get deeper into our own understanding;
- stereotyping and myths that contribute to racist practices in organizations;
- tools and suggestions that will enable us to take ownership of change that is required in our profession.
If you have any questions relating to the subject matter that you would like answered, feel free to send them by August 11th to Rose-marie Fernandez, email: rose-marie@icftoronto.com who will try her best to have them incorporated into the program.
