The ICF Toronto Programming team work hard to provide a wide range of topics for our virtual monthly meetings. We also have quarterly (approximate) in-person and/or hybrid events. We currently run HUBS; small in-person meetings in local areas in the GTA. For more information on our HUBS, please click HERE.

Many ICF Toronto events (including most monthly meetings) qualify for ICF's Continuing Coach Education Units (CCEU).

    Neuroscience – Part 2 of 3

    with David Ogle, Dose Coaching

Metacognition is our ability to think about our thinking; coaching is a process predicated on leveraging metacognition to generate new awareness, develop thoughtfulness, spark insight, and create behaviour change. Ever stop to think about why, exactly, this process works? This series is not going to teach you the mystical answer that only neuroscience can provide; it does not exist. It will, however, discuss relevant research, principles, and considerations from the field of cognitive and social neuroscience that are relevant to people with brains, and also coaches. We will cover a few core principles of neuroscience, examine cognitive processes for which coaching serves as an intervention, and discuss considerations that are equally relevant for coaches and their clients (multitaskers, beware!). We will create space for discussion and peer collaboration while keeping “the science” digestible and relatively long-latin-term-free. You will not walk away knowing exactly how the brain works, but you will gain exposure to research-based information that will enhance any coach’s toolkit.

    Outcomes:

    • Attendees will walk away with an understanding of core processes within the brain that affect coaching as a practice.
    • Attendees will learn about key cognitive outcomes that coaching is trying to create for a client.
    • Attendees will be exposed to a variety of research and cognitive factors at play for both coaches and clients within a coaching session.

    About David Ogle:

David Ogle is the Founder, Coach + Managing Partner of Dose. Dose was built on the premise that we all have immense amounts of untapped genius in our mind, and the practice of coaching is an effective means to distill that genius into simple and doable actions. He brings an applied neuroscience approach to coaching for business leaders and professional athletes. He coaches through examining the relationship between the processes of one’s mind, their actions, and their goals. The ultimate goal is generating performance; coaching, leadership, and neuroscience are integral access points. By leveraging a deeper understanding of the brain and seeking a greater awareness around one’s role as a leader and their contribution, the highest potential for performance is achievable.

David completed his MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health and brings 15 years of coaching and organizational leadership experience in high growth organizations. David is a Certified Organizational Coach, StandOut Strengths Coach, and holds the designation of Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with over 2,000 direct client hours. He also teaches and supervises learner coaches seeking coaching certification and accreditation at The University of British Columbia.

The CORE of our Core Competencies

The three principles that will multiply, expand, grow and deepen our Coaching Core Competencies (and all the markers) to MasterFull levels—instantly and easily.

    with Ben Dooley, MCC

I discovered the CORE from over 17 years of mentoring, guiding, training and growing coaches of all levels. (ACC to MCC). We have 8 Core Competencies that establish and define our coaching, but it can be tricky to powerfully evaluate and supervise as we prepare for our credentialing or to grow our coaching. Why? Because there are actually more like over 50 markers within those competencies that we need to be tracking. And the more we focus on what we need to accomplish and fulfil, the harder it is to truly show up powerfully in our coaching. Not only that, but it’s unnecessarily making our coaching journey so much more difficult and complex.

Wouldn't it be easier if we had a simple model and design that gave us actually only 3 things to maintain and hold in our coaching, and those three CORE COMPONENTS go underneath and support the Core Competencies and your coach training to instantly and easily expand, deepen, solidify and engage our coaching in powerful ways.

I'll give you a hint: they aren’t any of the Core Competencies, but rather they appear in ALL of them.

And with this powerful CORE in your coaching, your coaching will never be the same!

    Learning Objectives:

    • Coaches will discover a deeper level of the Core Competencies and Markers
    • Coaches will be able to access their coaching power, range and presence
    • Coaches will be able to listen deeper and fuller, create a richer awareness, establish trust more easily, and get their clients moving into action more easily
    • Coaches will watch their coaching expand, enhance, deepen and grow faster
    • They will also be able to recover their coaching when they get stuck, lost or fall out of coaching
    • They'll also have a solid and clear design that defines coaching so they can easily identify if they are coaching powerfully or not (and how to get into powerful coaching)
    • In other words, this simple, yet extremely powerful structure/design will open up new levels and allow the coach to show up more confidently and truly BE the coach they are here to BE

    About Ben Dooley:

For over 18 years, MCC coach Ben has been committed to unlocking the secrets of deep MasterFull Coaching and helping all coaches discover and reveal the powerful, confident and successful coach that they are here to BE. That YOU are here to BE. Your coaching will never be the same!
